Who is Representing Your Brand?
I have written about protecting your brand before. Actually a number of times.
If you’re a business owner you probably have employees wearing your logo on the uniforms you provided them. It is also possible they may be driving vehicles with your brand on them.
You may have protocols regarding where your employees can wear the said uniforms. For example, they aren’t allowed to wear them to the pub. They can wear them to business functions where there are protocols regarding how they are to behave when representing your business. Some organisations have protocols regarding how their employees drive company vehicles.
What is the difference between ‘protecting your brand’ and the question, ‘who is representing your brand?’ Probably not very much. So here is another question for you,
When you are in the course of interviewing a potential new employee, do you think about, ‘how will they represent my brand’?
Maybe unconsciously you are. But do we actually ask questions or look for behaviours which would provide us with an insight into how they will represent our brand?
When, and if, you induct your new employee to your business, do you talk about the importance of representing your brand? The story behind it, how it came into being.
If you do have these discussions, do you ever revisit the subject?
Actions have consequences. Are your employees and you, representing your brand in the best way possible? If not, why?
